EV charging cost and time by model
Battery size, rated range, efficiency, and charging power for 38 electric cars, each with a page that works out what a full charge costs at real electricity prices and how long it takes on a home charger or a DC fast charger.
How the per-model figures are computed
Charging cost = battery kWh × (1 + losses) × price per kWh, using Manufacturer-published figures from official model or spec pages; WLTP, EPA, CLTC or MIDC (India) range as noted in rangeBasis. Battery capacity is usable (net) where the manufacturer publishes it, otherwise gross, flagged in batteryBasis. efficiencyKwhPer100km is derived as batteryKwh / rangeKm x 100 (rounded to 1 decimal) for every model so figures are comparable; it is a rated-cycle figure, not real-world consumption. maxAcKw is the on-board charger limit (options noted); maxDcKw is the peak DC rate, which is only sustained over part of the 10-80% window. Where a manufacturer publishes a charge time but not a peak kW, or does not publish battery capacity, the most commonly cited value is used and confidence is set to approximate. Each sourceUrl was checked on the updated date with curl (HEAD/GET, browser user agent); 403 or timeout responses from known manufacturer domains are recorded in urlCheck. and a 10% charging loss on AC. Home charging time = battery kWh ÷ the smaller of the car's AC limit and the charger (7.4 kW single-phase or 11 kW three-phase). DC time for 10–80% assumes an average of 70% of the car's peak DC rate, which is what most charging curves deliver. Every model page pre-fills the EV charging cost, charging time, and EV vs petrol calculators so you can change the rate, charger, or trip.
